Syzygy

Diana drives her brother back
As heavens’ dance aligns;
A demon eye above us burns.
Its brilliant iris shines.

The moon, a beast, laid low our sun,
Consumed the orb entire.
The stars burned silent, out of place,
Small silent specks of fire.

This lunar beast concludes its meal,
Her jaws let loose their prey,
A vengeful sun flings shining spears
And drives the beast away.

(An old unsophisticated poem from simpler years)
