Beside You

4-3-4-3

Two saplings stand against the sun,
Black cracks through a pastel wall.
They stand together, side by side,
Through rain, mild times, and squalls.

Here they’ll grow, and reach for heaven,
Branches upward striving.
Here they’ll grow forever closer,
Branches intertwining.

And here we rest beneath these trees,
Smiling, sharing life.
Forever friends, if you’ll allow,
Through toil, good times, and strife.

May we, as saplings, grow together,
Christ our hope and guide,
Forever loving, hoping, trusting,
Always side by side.
