Thy Cross to Bear

Here’s a new poem I wrote somewhat off this morning’s sermon. I might ammend it some as I do most of my poetry and writing. I hope you like it. This is why I whipped out my Dell and started writing. I didn’t want to lose it.

Thy Cross to Bear

6-6-6-6

My Savior thou didst bear
The cross for ev’ry soul.
You took on all our sin
That death you should control.

Lord Jesus here am I.
Thy cross I now do take.
Your grief and shame I’ll share.
Thy name I’ll ne’er forsake.

You suffered separation
From Father up above.
Scorned, beat, and killed for me:
A token of God’s love.

Lord Jesus here am I.
Thy cross I now do take.
Your grief and shame I’ll share.
Thy name I’ll ne’er forsake.

Christ Jesus you I’ll serve.
Your power I do claim.
Fill me with your spirit.
Your message to proclaim.

Lord Jesus here am I.
Thy cross I now do take.
Your grief and shame I’ll share.
Thy name I’ll ne’er forsake.

O Father let me not,
Forsake your will and sin.
But let me watch and pray
That with Christ I may win!

Lord Jesus here am I.
Thy cross I now do take.
Your grief and shame I’ll share.
Thy name I’ll ne’er forsake.
