The Final Fall

sonnet v

One day, my Lord, my sinful soul You drew;
Your Word was quick; it slashed and laid me bare.
You showed me You. In love, I fell in prayer
And at Your cross in Faith I knelt to You.
Each day of life my sinful self attacks,
And war embroils my soul as new fights old.
So often I fall, but You Lord make me bold;
I bow my will and You uphold my lack.
One day above, amazed, I’ll reach the goal;
My war with sin will be forever won.
I’ll stand unshackled, robed in white, a son,
While voicing praise that wells within my soul.
I’ll bask in love and joy unknown,
Then take my final fall before Your Throne.
